TADVIC is a Victorian based not for profit organisation that was founded in 1975 to provide technical assistance to people with disabilities when commercially available solutions are unsuitable. Just as disabilities vary enormously, so do the specific equipment needs of people with disabilities. TADVIC can help in situations where a custom-made solution is required.
TADVIC's aim is to improve the quality of life of both clients and their carers, increase their physical independence and provide them with the opportunities to do things they once may not have thought possible.
TADVIC technical volunteers work closely with each client to design and make or modify equipment to suit their specific requirement. There is no charge for the TADVIC service. Clients pay only the cost of materials and, if appropriate, the volunteers' travelling expenses. Volunteers use their own workshops and give their time and skills freely.
TADVIC has a metropolitan base, ten regional branches and around 200 active volunteers. In 2007, TADVIC completed over 620 projects throughout Victoria.
The organisation is partially funded by a grant from the Department of Human Services, Victoria. For the remainder, TADVIC relies on private donors, community groups, businesses, trusts, volunteers and others who value our service.
